1. Butterfly wings are transparent.

How can that be? We know butterflies as perhaps the most colorful, vibrant insects around! A butterfly wing is actually formed by layers of chitin, the protein that makes up an insect’s exoskeleton. These layers are so thin you can see right through them. Thousands of tiny scales cover the transparent chitin, and these scales reflect light in different colors. As a butterfly ages, scales fall off the wings, leaving spots of transparency where the chitin layer is exposed.

2. Butterflies taste with their feet.
Taste receptors on a butterfly’s feet help it find its host plant and locate food. A female butterfly lands on different plants, drumming the leaves with her feet to make the plant release its juices. Spines on the back of her legs have chemoreceptors that detect the right match of plant chemicals. When she identified the right plant, she lays her eggs. A butterfly will also step on its food, using organs that sense dissolved sugars to taste food sources like fermenting fruit.

3. Butterflies can’t fly if they’re cold.
Butterflies need an ideal body temperature of about 85ºF to fly. Since they’re cold-blooded animals, they can’t regulate their own body temperatures. The surrounding air temperature has a big impact on their ability to function. If the air temperature falls below 55ºF, butterflies are rendered immobile, unable to flee from predators or feed. When air temperatures range between 82º-100ºF, butterflies can fly with ease. Cooler days require a butterfly to warm up its flight muscles, either be shivering or basking in the sun. And even sun-loving butterflies can get overheated when temperatures soar above 100ºF, and may seek shade to cool down.

HAS EVERYONE SEEN THIS? This happened recently. The story goes that this father was playing outside with his kids and went to go talk to this guy(the white man), because he was shooting his guns in the area where they were playing. The white man came over and shot him in the head FOR NO REASON. Did the same thing to the wife WHILE THE KIDS WERE WATCHING. Swear, white people don’t give a damn anymore about being discrete. This is why we need to tighten gun laws. This why we need to have a predominantly ethnic (People of Color) police force and investigation unit to combat this crap. We wonder why the Black Panther is calling for the death of George Zimmerman, but think about it. They grew up in a time where a white man could lynch you or kill you IN BROAD DAYLIGHT, and go about their business as if nothing even happened. We are now devolving back to a time where prosperity, peace, and higher knowledge will not come because whites feel as if they are being oppressed (meaning they don’t get to be superior to people of color anymore *white tears*)

I need everyone to either reblog this post or copy and paste the link so we can bring national attention to this story. It’s about time we make this an issue.

Tamago Kake Gohan is a popular breakfast food made of boiled rice topped or mixed with raw egg and sometimes soy sauce. Most of the time, only the yolk is used. There is no correct way in making this dish. Any form is acceptable so long as the two main ingredients are present.

Tamago Kake Gohan Though this is considered Japanese comfort food I call it “ Lazy food.” I am not much of a cook and it’s almost impossible to ruin this dish.

1. Make one cup of fresh sticky rice. (Not your American long grain.)
2. While rice is still steaming, scoop hot rice in a bowl.
3. Add one raw egg and stir until rice is coated. (The egg will “cook” so its no longer raw)
4. Add you preferred amount of soy sauce and stir.

Halfway through CSSSA, my core class and I shared secrets with each other. My secret - ‘I see myself as numbers and letters and nothing else. I always compare myself to others, while seeing myself as trash.’

My teacher asked me what I wanted in life. I still don’t know.

I know what I gained from CSSSA, but since I went to the channels of life and school again, I’m just basically the same person before CSSSA.

It’s just… I want to be something more than letters and numbers and the word, ‘smart.’ Turns out I can’t.
